Construction Update: Week of 3/9/26

Dear Neighbors,
First, thank you so much for the positive response to our first construction update last Friday. We appreciate the warm reception and look forward to sharing regular updates on the 424 Bryant project throughout the duration of construction.
Today marks the end of the second week of construction. This past week, the team removed and recycled the parking lot light poles and asphalt. Activities for this week included setting up tree protection for all trees remaining in place throughout the duration of construction; removed surface brush and plants along existing tree stumps in a process called “clear and grub”; and established a primary job site entrance for construction vehicles to prepare for next week’s closure of southbound traffic on Bryant Street. If you visit the site, you can expect to see fencing and traffic control signage throughout the adjacent streets.
Next week, we anticipate clearing of offsite trees and beginning potholing in preparation for utility work in the street. The team will also begin excavating and off-hauling dirt from the site to make way for the mat foundation.
We have leased the empty lot on the northwest corner of California and Bryant for construction workers to park their vehicles. Construction workers should not be using street parking. If you happen to see construction workers using neighborhood street parking, please feel free to share a description of the vehicle and license plate so we can follow up directly with the worker and their company.
We also hope you will extend a warm welcome to the construction workers who will be part of the neighborhood over the coming two years. Many of them will be grabbing lunch and coffee nearby, and their presence helps support local downtown restaurants and small businesses during the workday.
Thank you for your patience while construction is underway. As always, please feel free to reach out to me directly:
